Haryana Rare Disease Pension Scheme

The Haryana Government provides monthly financial assistance to eligible residents who are diagnosed with a recognized rare disease. The scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on patients and their families by offering regular monetary support for medical and daily living expenses. This financial assistance is available in addition to certain other eligible social security benefits, subject to government rules. The scheme is administered by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes and Antyodaya (SEWA).

 

Pension Amount Eligible beneficiaries receive ₹3,200 per month as financial assistance under the scheme (as per the latest revision effective from late 2025). The amount is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

 

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Haryana Rare Disease Pension Scheme, an applicant should generally meet the following conditions:

  1. Must be a domicile (permanent resident) of Haryana.
  2. Must possess a Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).
  3. Annual family income should not exceed ₹3 lakh.
  4. The applicant must be diagnosed with a rare disease recognized under the National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021, including any future updates.
  5. The diagnosis should be issued by a Government of India-designated Centre of Excellence (CoE) for rare diseases.
  6. The applicant should have valid identity and bank account details for receiving the benefit.

 

How to Apply for Haryana Rare Disease Pension

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Obtain the prescribed application form or apply through the official government portal if online submission is available.
  2. Fill in all personal, medical, income, and bank account details carefully.
  3. Attach the required supporting documents.
  4. Submit the application to the concerned District Social Welfare Office or through the notified online platform.
  5. The department verifies the applicant's eligibility and medical documents.
  6. Once approved, the monthly financial assistance is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT.
