The Ayushman Card is a health insurance identification card provided under the Ayushman Bharat health scheme. It allows eligible families to access cashless medical treatment at empanelled hospitals according to the scheme guidelines. The card helps beneficiaries receive healthcare services without paying treatment costs upfront for covered medical procedures.
The Ayushman Card allows eligible beneficiaries to receive cashless treatment at empanelled government and private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Eligible families can receive coverage for listed hospitalization packages according to scheme rules. Treatment is cashless for covered services at empanelled hospitals.
Before visiting the hospital, confirm that you are eligible under the PM-JAY scheme and that your Ayushman Card is active.
Go to a government or private hospital that is empanelled under PM-JAY. These hospitals can provide cashless treatment for covered packages.Find Hospital
Present your Ayushman Card along with Aadhaar or another accepted identity document at the Ayushman Help Desk in the hospital.
The hospital verifies your identity and beneficiary details through the PM-JAY system. Biometric or OTP-based verification may be required. Find Check your name
The doctor examines the patient and determines the required treatment or hospitalization.
If the treatment falls under a covered package, the hospital obtains the necessary authorization before proceeding.
After approval, the patient receives treatment without paying for services covered under the approved package. Covered expenses generally include hospitalization, surgery, medicines, diagnostic tests, ICU care (when applicable), food during admission, and specified follow-up care.
After recovery, the hospital prepares the discharge summary and completes the discharge process through the PM-JAY portal.
The hospital submits the claim directly to the scheme. The eligible beneficiary does not need to file a separate reimbursement claim for covered cashless treatment.
