Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card
A Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a unique ten-character
alphanumeric identification issued by the Income Tax Department of India.
It serves as a permanent identity for individuals, businesses, and other
entities when carrying out financial and tax-related activities.
Why is a PAN Card Required?
A PAN card plays an important role in maintaining financial transparency
and simplifying tax administration. It helps government authorities
identify taxpayers and monitor financial transactions where required by law.
Common Uses of a PAN Card
Filing Income Tax Returns (ITR).
Opening a bank account (where applicable).
Applying for loans and credit cards.
Buying or selling certain high-value assets.
Making eligible financial investments.
Receiving taxable income and claiming tax refunds.

How to Apply for a PAN Card Online
Step 1: Visit the Official PAN Portal
Open the official PAN application website. New PAN applications can be submitted through the government-authorized Protean or UTIITSL portals.Link for Apply for PAN Card
Step 2: Select "New PAN Application"
Choose the option for a fresh PAN application and select the appropriate application form based on your eligibility.
Step 3: Fill Personal Details
Enter your full name, father's name, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar number (if applicable), mobile number, email address and communication address carefully.
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
Upload your Proof of Identity, Proof of Address, Proof of Date of Birth, recent passport-size photograph and signature if required by the selected application method.
Step 5: Verify Your Details
Review all entered information carefully. Incorrect details may delay or invalidate your application.
Step 6: Pay the Application Fee
Complete the payment using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI or other available online payment methods.
Step 7: Submit the Application
After successful payment, submit the application. You will receive an acknowledgement number which can be used to track the application status.
Step 8: Complete Verification
Depending on the application method, complete Aadhaar OTP/e-KYC/e-Sign or send supporting documents if physical verification is required.
Step 9: Track Your PAN Application
Use the acknowledgement number on the authorized PAN portal to check the processing status of your application.
Step 10: Receive Your PAN
Once approved, your e-PAN is sent electronically, and if you opted for a physical PAN card, it will be delivered to your registered address.

Step-by-Step Process
Step 1
Open the official PAN service website and select the Download e-PAN option.
Step 2
Enter your PAN Number or Acknowledgement Number.
Step 3
Enter your Date of Birth (for individuals) or other required details.
Step 4
Read the declaration and proceed to request an OTP.
Step 5
Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number or email.
Step 6
Verify your details. If applicable, complete the payment (some downloads may be free depending on the issuance and provider).
Step 7
After successful verification, download your e-PAN PDF.
Step 8
Open the downloaded PDF. If prompted, enter the PDF password as instructed by the issuing authority.
